How does an external hard drive work ?

When you connect this external hard drive to a computer through the USB port, you may need load some software drivers come together with the  drive at first time (only required one time installation ) , after software installation and partition the hard drive, the computer will assign a drive letter to the drive, for example, "E" drive, then,  this external   drive  will function exactly same as an internal  drive. For example, you can copy files from your  any other drives, for example, "C" drive to this "E" drive; you can install program to this "E" drive; you can run program from this "E" drive ;

If one USB port does not supply enough power to the hard drive, you can connect another USB connector on the USB cable to the computer�s 2nd USB port (if available) to get some extra power. Two USB ports together normally will supply enough power to the hard drive. If your computer only has one USB port and it does not supply enough power to run a hard drive, you can:

1. Use our optional 5V external AC power adapter to power this kit.

2. Or use our 5V Pocket-Size Battery, it can run the hard drive from 8~10 hours.
