If your computer can boot from CD-ROM drive, you can directly boot your computer from this CD disk, without running windows, and watch the contents of one drive get copied to the other. With the Clone EZ software included in this EZ-GIG II kit, you can quickly and safely make an exact mirror image of you old hard drive to your new hard drive. In one easy step, your files, applications and operating system get transferred to your new drive.
If your computer can not boot up from a CD-ROM drive, you can go to windows, install this EZ-Gig II software under windows, then use Clone EZ software to create exact bootable clone of the current hard drive on new hard drive.
3.Switch out the old drive for the new one, and you're done. By installing your old hard drive to this enclosure , you have an extra PCMCIA external hard drive which can be used as a perfect backup drive with the Image EZ

If you are using a hard drive pulled from a laptop computer, the hard drive may have a special connector adapter added to the hard drive and it may look different from above connector. In this case, you need to remove the connector adapter, then you will see the 44-pin connector like above picture, then you can use this enclosure for it. Here are two examples:
