Hard drive installation guide for Compaq Presario C300 and HP Pavilion G3000 Series.
Before removing the current drive, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery.
Remove hard drive:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (refer to above).
2. Loosen the two Phillips PM2.5×5.0 captive screws (1) that secure the hard drive cover to the computer.
3. Lift the rear edge of the hard drive cover (2), and then swing it up and forward and remove it.
4. Slide the hard drive to the right, and then lift the hard drive from the hard drive bay.
5. Remove the four Phillips PM3.0×4.0 hard drive bracket
screws (1) that secure the hard drive bracket to the hard drive.
6. Slide the bracket (2) away from the hard drive to remove it.
Reverse the above procedure to reassemble and install the
hard drive.
