HP Compaq Hard Drive Installation Guide -HPDV1000

Hard drive installation guide for HP dv1000 series, HP Compaq nx4800 series and Compaq Presario V2000 series.

1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

3. Disconnect the power cord.

4. Remove the battery pack.

5. Loosen the two PM2.0×5.0 screws [1] that secure the hard drive cover to the computer.

6. Lift the left side of the cover [2] and swing it to the right.

7. Remove the hard drive cover.

8. Grasp the mylar tab [1] on the left side of the hard drive and lift the hard drive [2] until it disconnects from the computer.

9. Slide the hard drive to the left and remove it from the hard drive bay.

10. Remove the four PM2.5×4.0 screws [1] that secure the hard drive frame to the hard drive.

11. Lift the frame [2] to remove if from the hard drive.

12. Slide the hard drive connector [3] off the hard drive.

Reverse the above procedure to install and reassemble the hard drive.
