Notes:
This installation guide is for models use 2.5" SATA hard drives only. The hard drive in some models are 1.8" drive which is very hard to upgrade or remove.
Replace the internal hard drive only if you upgrade it or have it repaired. The connectors and bay of the hard drive were not designed for frequent changes, or drive swapping.
Do not drop the drive or subject it to physical shocks. The hard drive is sensitive to physical shock and improper handling can cause damage and permanent loss of data. Put the drive on a material, such as soft cloth, that absorbs the physical shock.
Do not apply pressure to the cover of the drive.
Do not touch the connector.
Before removing the drive, make a backup copy of all the information on the drive.
Never remove the drive while the system is operating or is in suspend mode.
If a hard drive is being installed in the X6 UltraBase attached to the ThinkPad computer, then please follow the Ultrabay device removal and installation instructions.
1. Turn off the computer; then disconnect the AC adapter and all cables from the computer.
2. Close the computer display, and turn the computer over.
3. Remove the battery pack.
4. Remove the screw (1) that secures the hard drive cover. Then remove the cover (2). .
5. Remove the hard drive by pulling its tab away from the computer.
6. Detach the rubber side rails from the hard drive.
7. Attach the rubber side rails to a new hard drive.
8. Insert the hard drive firmly into the hard drive bay.
9. Insert the hard drive cover (1) and reinstall the screw (2).
10. Reinstall the battery.
11. Turn the computer over again. Connect the AC adapter and cables to the computer.
